Well-established, well-respected boutique literary agency seeks assistant to the President and Vice President of the agency. There is great potential to become a junior and full agent over time, and we are seeking someone with a particular interest in publishing.Duties will include:• Working closely with clients/authors• Working closely with the President/organizing the schedule• Reading solicited and unsolicited submissions and writing reader reports• Tracking and gathering materials necessary for book proposals• Assembling and submitting book proposals• Maintaining and updating a comprehensive weekly list of active agency matters for use in weekly editorial meetings• Maintaining and updating client lists, editorial and agency contacts and agency databases• Writing letters of rejection as well as sending out form rejection letters• Tracking author royalty statements • Managing reversion of rights requests for the agency's titles• Managing contracts• Working within established systems and creating new systems for contributing to the general organization of the office• Answering telephone and relaying messages• Filing, faxing, copying, shippingEntry level salary with medical benefits after 3 months.
