Brooklyn Council Member seeks a Communications Director for a fast-paced, progressive office. Successful applicants will have a demonstrated ability to craft and implement an effective communications plan, experience with print, television, radio and online media and knowledge of city government. Working alongside the Council Member and Chief of Staff, the Communications Director will be responsible for day-to-day press outreach, such as writing press releases, public statements, newsletters and e-newsletters, as well as maintaining the Council Member's website. The Communications Director will also be expected to manage general outreach to constituents.In addition, candidates should be able to work as both independently and as a member of the larger team. Candidates must work well under pressure and be able to adhere to strict deadlines. Familiarity with Brooklyn is a plus.
