Position Title: Running Specialty Group, Human Resources DirectorFunctional Area: Human ResourcesRunning Specialty Group is seeking a versatile, enthusiastic and passionate Human Resources Director to lead the Human Resource function for a rapidly growing running retail and online business. Company Overview Running Specialty Group (RSG) is a newly formed company focusing on building a national network of individual specialty running stores, and e-commerce sales via a new running web site, Run.com. RSG encompasses 27 stores in 8 states which include the New York Running Company, Greater Boston Running Company, Texas Running Company, the Dallas based company, Run On, Road Runner of Richmond, and others. SummaryThe Human Resources Director is responsible for human resources practices and objectives that will provide an employee-oriented; high performance culture that emphasizes empowerment, quality service, community, goal attainment, and the recruitment and ongoing development of a superior team. In addition, the Human Resources Director is responsible for the development of processes and metrics that support the achievement of the organization's business goals including but not limited to:Recruiting• Post, source and recruit for all RSG open positions across multiple states (corporate and retail) • Main point of contact for the entire recruitment lifecycle: job identification, advertising, resume screening, phone screening, interviews, hiring, offer letters and new hire orientationBenefits• Performs benefits administration to include claims resolution, change reporting, approving invoices for payment, approving all employee benefit change requests, and communicating any pertinent benefit information to employeesEmployee Relations/ Conflict Resolution• As a liaison with the larger HR Team, supports employee relations issues alongside management• Supports employee investigations and resolution of issues on a day to day basis• Supports the documentation of performance and corrective action reviews as needed • Coaches and counsels managers on how to manage employee performance • Responsible for training all new store/corporate managers on HR policies and procedures Employee Communications/ Company Culture• Supports new hire orientation and onboarding across the company, and trains store managers on how to conduct this training locally • Communicates company information, policy updates, news, etc. on a regular basis company wide• Helps to develop an employee-oriented company culture that emphasizes our values, continuous improvement, and dedication to the best practices in the industry. Policies and Procedures• Understands HR regulations and helps to proactively keep the company in compliance with all state and federal laws • Leads the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures• Updates employee handbook and policies and procedures manual as needed Reviews and Compensation• Participates in developing company goals, objectives, and review processes• Provides guidance for compensation and performance reviews• Additional duties and projects as required.Education and work experience• A bachelor's degree and three to five years of Human Resources experience• Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification preferredSkills/Abilities• Solid written and verbal communication skills• Excellent customer service skills • Strong Interpersonal skills with all levels of employees • Excellent organization, prioritization and self-motivation skills• Strong computer literacy skills with the MS Office suite as well as HRIS database applications• Ability to interact effectively as either a leader or as a member of a team • Can collaborate effectively with other departments• Ability to listen to the staff and to understand and respond positively to their requests• Ability to work without close supervision and set priorities • Ability to manage multiple tasks at once and successfully meet deadlinesTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
