We're looking for for other geeks like us who run Linux at home and enjoy problem solving and optimizing/automating/debugging systems. We're an all Linux shop so we're looking for someone with extensive Linux system administration experience through the command line. If you booted off a Linux Live CD once, you're probably not the person we're looking for. If you still run Gentoo, welcome! Seriously though, you need to understand Linux well, understand the commands, know the directory layout and where logs and config files are (we're going to ask you when you apply).
What else should you know? Basic TCP/IP networking and how to configure it on Linux systems. It's OK if you don't know all the details of Internet routing, that's something we can teach you. You should have some basic scripting skills in Bash, Python, PHP, Perl. If you are not hacker-level at any of those languages, it's definitely OK, but you should at least be able to understand and follow scripts at a basic level as to what they are doing. Bonus points if you are a sed/awk/xargs wizard. You should also understand the basic of x86 hardware and how it works. You'll be needed to repair and build rackmount servers from time to time, and while we can teach you what you'll need to know about the specific hardware we use, you'll need a good working knowledge to begin with. Build your own PC before, great. Build your own home SAN? Even better!

What will you be doing? You will be a member of the WT support team, the backbone of our company. Day to day you'll be helping our clients with a variety of issues, including troubleshooting server software issues, repairing services which have failed, investigating abuse and security violations, provisioning servers, fielding phone calls from clients, optimizing server configurations, building servers, swapping out failed hardware, load balance a cluster from a client, etc. We perform a wide variety of work so there is plenty for you to flex your skills and learn as well.
What are the hours?
