Scientific Content Editor, EB MedicineAre you an experienced medical editor who loves proofreading complex medical documents, ensuring effectiveness and accuracy of content and formatting, and managing multiple projects simultaneously? Does the idea of working independently, often spending an entire day editing a single manuscript, sound like your ideal environment? As Scientific Content Editor at EB Medicine, you'll have the opportunity to organize, copyedit, and proofread each article for two of our continuing education publications for physicians. Working with our physician editors, you will manage and track each issue, oversee and facilitate the peer review process, and ensure accuracy and timeliness of the content. Working at EB Medicine, you don't have to worry about being micromanaged. Deadlines are strict, but how you manage your time is up to you -- and you'll be consulting and contributing to high-level strategy and implementation decisions. But EB Medicine isn't for everybody. If you prefer working on a large team, have trouble sticking to deadlines or managing multiple priorities, or don't enjoy strictly adhering to style guides and editorial work flows, then we're probably not for you. But if you are compulsively organized, extremely attentive to detail, and constantly seeking to learn more and improve your own skill set, then you need to apply. Now. Responsibilities:I. Editorial Management a. Manage and track each of the issues at each stage of the editorial process for one monthly publication and one bimonthly publicationb. For each issue: organize, copyedit, and proofread; help ensure accuracy of content; and work with layout department to design the issue c. Facilitate and oversee reviews, revisions, and approvals from the remote Editor-in-Chief/Associate Editor for each issue d. Invite physician peer reviewers and remotely manage a collaborative review process e. Adhere to entire editorial process, including forms, disclosures, reviews, revisions, permissions, status tracking, and deadlinesf. Contribute to the process of choosing topics, authors, and reviewersg. Review reader comments weekly and respond or refer, as appropriate, to author, Editor-in-Chief, or Publisherh. Manage quarterly editorial board updatesKey Performance Indicators: a. Documented completion of the "Editorial Process" for every issueb. Sending the issue to the printer no later than the deadlinec. User commentsd. Renewal ratesII. Content Development a. Identify and research new publication opportunities b. Identify and research new content delivery platforms Key Performance Indicators: a. Development of a minimum of 1 new resource or delivery method annually Requirements:• Functional/Technical Knowledge & Skills: o Advanced experience formatting, copyediting, and proofreading medical manuscripts. o Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word 2007 and/or 2010, particularly with tracking changes and using document templates, styles, and complex table formatting methods. o Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Adobe Acrobat (full version, not Adobe Reader).o Working knowledge of publication and graphics software applications.o Experience preparing electronic documents for publication.• Customer & Industry Knowledge:o Basic to intermediate knowledge of medical terminology and human anatomy and physiology.o Familiarity with or ability to learn and apply style rules from the American Medical Association Manual of Style. o Ability to contribute to company knowledge in regard to information design, content management, style issues, etc.• Education/Training:o A minimum of a bachelor's degree, preferably in a life science, communications, or a related field.• Other:o Exceptional communication, interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.o Ability to work with focus and great attention to detail.o Exceptional ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment, with changing priorities and significant time pressures.o Ability to work independently with limited supervision.o Highly effective problem-solving, planning, and organizational skills.Work Schedule & Benefits: • Competitive salary• Health insurance; the full premium is paid by the employer • Dental coverage• 401k plan, with matching • Ample paid time off• Education reimbursement• Schedule: 40 hours per week (or more, as needed), Monday-Friday, hours are negotiable If you're interested in this high-impact role and are willing and able to work out of Norcross, GA, complete the application and submit your resume at Location: Norcross, GAPrincipals only.
